This is the first live action film of the new top-dog in Mercedes-Benz's E-Class range, the E63 AMG that will compete against the BMW M5 and its ilk. The E63 AMG made its world premiere at the New York Auto Show an it is powered by a 6.3-liter V8 engine producing 525HP and 465 lbs/ft of torque launching the car to 62mph (100km/h) in 3.9 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h or 155mph. Video: F1 Champ Damon Hill makes Journalist Carsick during Mercedes SL55 AMG Test Drive

Honestly, this has to be one of the funniest, automotive related videos we've seen for quite a while now. In a nutshell, former F1 champion, Damon Hill, took a motoring journalist for a quick spin in a Mercedes SL55 AMG with upsetting results for the reporter's 'tummy'. Don't get us wrong, we feel for the poor journalist and in all fairness, we too might have required a "barfy" pitstop after sitting in the passenger seat with Damon behind the steering wheel, but still, we can't stop laughing! Video: Merc's 670HP SL65 AMG Black Series in Action

Not that the recently updated Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG with its 612HP twin-turbocharged V12 engine isn't powerful or fast enough, but you'll always have a few customers -very few to be honest- that crave for something a bit more special, a bit more fast and a whole lot more expensive. The result was the introduction of the SL 65 AMG 'Black Series' of which only 350 will be produced, with around 200 of those earmarked for the U.S. As a typical example of Merc's 'Black Series' cars, this SL has been stripped out and tuned to the bone. Among other upgrades the 'Black Series' has been enhanced with a fixed carbon-fiber rooftop and a tweaked 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine producing 670HP and a monstrous 738 lbs/ft of torque. Brabus B63 S based on the Mercedes C63 AMG with 530HP

If you’re the kind of person who finds that the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG could do with a bit more oomph, then Brabus’ new tuning package might just do the trick for you. The German tuning firm’s new B63 S performance kit consists of free-flow high-performance metal catalysts, sport air filters and newly programmed ECU with custom mapping for ignition and injection. Together these components result in an increase the standard 6.2-liter V8’s output from 457 HP to 530 HP while peak torque grows from 600 Nm to 650 Nm (442 to 479 lb-ft).-Continued

According to Brabus, the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) is shortened from 4.5 to 4.1 sec while 200 km/h (124 mph) is reached after 13.1 sec, down from 14.5 seconds. Buyers can choose between two versions of the Brabus Vmax unit that allow the B63 S to reach a top speed of 300 or 315 km/h (188 or 197 mph).

In addition to the performance kit, Brabus also offers a wide range of accessories for the C63 AMG including a limited-slip rear differential, 19-inch wheels complete with Yokohama or Pirelli high-performance tires in size 235/35 in front and 265/30 on the rear axle, a height-adjustable coil-over suspension and 380mm brake discs with 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers on the front axle and 360mm discs with 6-piston aluminum fixed calipers on the rear.

With 670Hp and 1,000 Nm of torque, the Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series is the most powerful model to come out of the AMG factory yet. But the Black Series is not only more powerful it’s also 250kg or 550 pounds lighter than its 612Hp SL65 AMG stablemate thanks to the fixed carbon-fiber reinforced plastic rooftop, the lightweight alloy wheels and the numerous carbon fiber composites bodywork components. As a result, the Black Series needs just 3.9 sec to reach 100 km/h (62mph) while 200 km/h (124mph) is attained after 11.0 sec. BRABUS Tuning Program for the Facelifted Mercedes-Benz SLK Roadster

Parallel to the market launch of the updated Mercedes SLK (see here), BRABUS is introducing its customization program for the hardtop roadster. The German tuner’s offerings include mechanical upgrades as well as cosmetic enhancements. Especially for the top-of-the-line SLK55 AMG model, BRABUS offers its 6.1-liter displacement V8 engine that produces 445 hp (standard SLK AMG: 360 Hp) and a peak torque of 635 Nm (468 lb-ft). -Continued

Power is transferred to the road via a modified seven-speed automatic gearbox and a custom-developed BRABUS limited-slip differential. The BRABUS prepped SLK AMG sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.3 seconds and on to a top speed of 305 km/h or 191 mph.

All versions of the 2009 SLK can be equipped with a stainless-steel sport exhaust system with four chrome-plated tailpipes along with a sport suspension that lowers the ride height of the roadster by some 30 mm. Additionally, BRABUS offers several high-performance brake systems, the largest of which features 6-piston aluminium fixed calipers and 355-mm (14 inches) vented and slotted discs on the front axle and 300-mm (11.8 inches) discs and four-piston aluminium fixed calliper on the front.

Appearance-wise, the BRABUS designers have come up with an aerodynamically enhanced bodykit complemented by chrome-plated roll bars and a series of light-alloy wheels available with diameters of 17, 18 and 19 inches.

As for the inside, the list of available components includes highly polished stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated BRABUS logo, various versions of the ergonomically shaped BRABUS sport steering wheel and a speedometer with 330-km/h (206 mph) dial. Additionally, BRABUS can dress the SLK’s cabin with Mastik leather and Alcantara.

2009 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Scooped

Unlike other rumours and renderings we’ve been seen lately, the C63 AMG is really coming to a Mercedes outlet near you either this fall or early 2008. While the previous gen C55 AMG wore a 5.4 V8 pumping out 367Hp, the 2009 C63 AMG will take advantage of the 6,2-litre V8 engine that’s fitted in the CLK63 AMG, E63 AMG, CLS63AMG etc. With the help of a compressor, the V8 will deliver around 500Hp, thus making the C63 AMG the most powerful kid on the German block, out-powering both the Audi RS4 and BMW M3. We don’t know if that’ll be enough to give its two German rivals a lesson, but it’ll sure give the C63 AMG a place in the spotlight when it’s unveiled.

NY Preview: Mercedes CLK 63 AMG Black Series

AMG’s 40th Anniversary is celebrated by two new presentations at the New York show, the CL65 AMG that we showed you a few days ago and the CLK 63 AMG Black Series. Based on the official F1 Safety Car the Black Series features a heap of goodies like the aerodynamic bodykit, upgraded suspension, larger front composite brakes and bucket-type seats covered in barely inflammable nylon velour.

Moreover,the Black Series receives an engine upgrade. Mercedes-AMG engineers completely redesigning the intake and exhaust systems of the stock 481Hp 6,0-liter V8 thus rising output to 507Hp / 373 kW. CLK 63 AMG Black Series: Formula One Technology for the Road

The new AMG sports exhaust system with full-length twin pipes stands out with its unmistakable, pleasant AMG V8 sound. Seven Speeds with More Pronounced Sporting Feel

Power is transmitted through the AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC. Compared to the standard CLK 63 AMG, the rear-axle ratio of the pur sang special series has been made about six percent shorter – to confer even more agility in acceleration in all speed ranges. For maximum sporting dynamics, the transmission has only the “M” and “S” driving programs; the comfort-oriented “C” is deleted. The driver can switch between the seven gears by using the AMG aluminum shift paddles on the steering wheel, while an indicator in the instrument cluster shows the gear selected at any given time.

In the “M” manual program, shift times are about 20 percent shorter than in “S”. Moreover, in the “M” program the driver benefits from the great tractive power of the V8, since there is no automatic downshifting under full load and kickdown; the transmission always remains in the gear selected. When the engine-speed limit is reached, the AMG SPEEDSHIFT does not shift up automatically in the manual drive program – and in this way supports a dynamic driving style on the race track. A visual upshift icon on the AMG main menu signals the recommended gear change.

Optimized Cooling for Top Stamina

The visual appearance of the CLK 63 AMG Black Series shows its racing inspiration. The redesigned front end is descended 1:1 from the Official F1™ Safety Car, and its generously dimensioned cooling-air intakes hint at the sophisticated cooling measures. For greater stamina under extreme operating conditions, a larger main radiator and an optimized power steering cooler, as well as an additional transmission cooler are built into the left front wheel arch. The engine oil cooler is located in the right wheel arch. The cooling measures are complemented by optimized air ducts with lateral openings in real carbon in front of the front wheels. The front fenders are made of high-strength and yet lightweight carbon-fiber composite material. On their flank, a “6.3 AMG” badge hints at the exceptional power of the naturally-aspirated V8. Redesigned side skirts extend to the broad rear fenders, which are in turn connected by a newly developed rear apron. The components taken over from the Official F1™ Safety Car include not only the carbon diffusor fins and the integrated chromed dual tailpipes of the AMG sports exhaust system, but also a cooler for the heavily stressed rear axle. The separate oil cooler has an active extraction-type fan, which is particularly effective in suppressing temperature peaks. On the trunk lid, a new airflow breakaway edge, also made of carbon, is responsible for reducing lift forces on the rear axle.

Adjustable AMG Sports Suspension for Best Track Performance

Like its counterpart in the Formula One World Championship, the CLK 63 AMG Black Series also has a newly developed and quite special AMG sports suspension. The adjustable threaded suspension guarantees optimum road contact and maximum precision. For competitive driving, the driver can create his personal suspension setup: not only the level, but also the compression and rebound stages of the shock absorbers, front-axle track and camber, and rear-axle track are adjustable.

Both axles have newly developed components like spring links, wheel carriers, thrust arms, camber and torque struts, as well as completely reworked elastokinematics. Compared to the standard CLK 63 AMG, the Black Series has over 75 millimeters more track at the front axle and 66 millimeters more at the rear. Added stiffness under high lateral dynamics is provided by strut braces in the engine compartment and trunk. On the rear axle, a multi-plate locking differential ensures optimum traction, with 30 percent locking effect in the overrun and 10 percent under traction. Acceleration skid control (ASR) and the Electronic Stability Program ESP® are calibrated to meet more intense driving demands.

Lightweight Forged Wheels, Sports Tires for a Perfect Grip

The wheel and tire combination used forms a perfect partner for the AMG threaded sports suspension. Pirelli P Zero Corsa sports tires in size 265/30 R 19 (front) and 285/30 R 19 (rear) permit exceptional grip and amazing cornering speeds – with outstanding characteristics in the wet. The tires are mounted on handsome multi-spoke forged wheels. AMG aluminum wheels in size 9.00 x 19 and 9.50 x 19 are produced using advanced lightweight forging technology. The weight reduction results in improved response behavior from the parameter power steering, which is also modified for greater precision and agility.

AMG High-Performance Brake System with Larger Front Composite Disks

Looking through the tracery of the AMG forged wheels, you can catch a glimpse of the ventilated and perforated disk brakes. The front axle has larger 360 x 36 mm brake disks which were tested in racing. Their rear-axle counterparts measure 330 x 26 mm. Perfect deceleration, optimal apportionment of brake power and enormous fade resistance are hallmarks of the AMG high-performance brake system – even when being tested to the maximum on the track.

Interior with the Functional Feel of a Genuine Racing Car

The transfer of technology from motor sport, a Mercedes-AMG tradition fostered over decades, is equally evident in the interior of the CLK 63 AMG Black Series. This dedicated two-seater sports touring car not only dispenses with rear seats, but with its bucket-type seats, rich carbon trim and black headliner, displays the functional atmosphere of a true racing car – and thus documents 40 years of Mercedes-AMG motor sport history. The new AMG bucket-type seats come without side airbags and are covered in barely inflammable nylon velour with embroidered silver AMG logos. Carbon trim on the center console and on the inner door cladding, also with stamped AMG logos, aluminum door handles and anodized black trim strips, brings a feeling of quality to the interior. On the center console, the specially shaped selector lever and the new, matt-finish start/stop switch add further highlights.

Its diameter reduced by 15 millimeters, the new AMG performance sports steering wheel comes fitted with silver aluminum shift paddles. The steering wheel rim, 365 millimeters in diameter, is flattened on its underside to ensure that the driver of the CLK 63 AMG Black Series always has a perfect seating position and vehicle control.

AMG Instrument Cluster with RACETIMER

The carbon-embedded AMG instrument cluster with its 320 km/h scale furnishes an exclusive ambience and high functionality at the same time. The AMG main menu in the cluster is perfectly tailored to serious racing: it shows the current gear engaged, as well as an upshift recommendation in “M” mode, or alternatively engine oil temperature or battery voltage, as well as the RACETIMER. This last function enables the driver to determine his lap times on a closed course. The RACETIMER stores the time of the fastest lap, average and maximum speeds, and the length of the laps.

Despite its raceworthy handling, the CLK 63 AMG Black Series retains those typical qualities that distinguish a true Mercedes-Benz: everyday practicality, longevity, safety and quality. Following in the path of the SLK 55 AMG Black Series, the new CLK 63 AMG Black Series was developed in the AMG PERFORMANCE STUDIO opened in 2006. Mercedes CL65 AMG: 612Hp V12 biturbo coupe to debut in New York

Mercedes AMG has released details on its top-buck CL65 AMG coupe prior to its Big Apple debut in a few days. The uber-alles CL features a 6,0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 that delivers 612Hp and a whopping 1.000Nm of torque, capable of slinging the AMG from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in just 4,4 sec while the 200-km/h (124mph) mark comes after 13.3 sec. As in all Mercedes’, Its maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155mph).

Since the presentation of the CL65 AMG coincides with AMG’s 40th birthday, Mercedes decided to run a special limited edition of just 40 cars dubbed "40th Anniversary". A new type of paint finish reflects the special status of this exclusive version, which is restricted to just 40 vehicles for the whole world. This exceptional AMG coupe is the very first series-production Mercedes to feature AMG Alubeam, a unique paint finish which has previously only been seen on a handful of Mercedes show cars.

A world first, this new process causes the paint to gleam like liquid metal. The color, which seems to be stretched over the vehicle body like a metallic skin, emphasizes the compelling lines of the large Mercedes coupe more effectively than any other paint finish while the light plays on them in a way calculated to make them even more vivid. This is made possible by the use of pigment particles which measure just 30 to 50 nanometers and are therefore able to be incorporated in the surface of the paint much more evenly. As a result, the light is reflected much more intensively and the luster of the paintwork is enhanced. To put this into perspective, conventional paintwork pigments measure between 100 and 300 nanometers.

This fine pigment structure calls for a perfect body surface which the Mercedes experts achieve by means of an elaborate preparatory process before the actual painting stage. The twelve-cylinder biturbo engine of the CL65 AMG features the very latest technology from the world of motorsports. Highly resilient components and materials guarantee consistently high power and torque levels, even at extreme operating temperatures. A case in point is the charge-air cooling system which uses an air/water heat exchanger and a particularly large low-temperature radiator at the front of the vehicle. The maximum charge pressure is 1.3 bar.

AMG SPEEDSHIFT 5-Speed Auto with Steering-Wheel Shift Paddles

The drive power of the new CL65 AMG is transmitted to the wheels by the AMG SPEEDSHIFT five-speed automatic transmission with AMG steering-wheel gearshift paddles and DIRECT SELECT gearshift. An "S/C/M" mode button in the center console allows the driver to choose between the "Sport", "Comfort" and "Manual" driving programs. As well as changing the transmission characteristics, these modify the accelerator response and the spring/damper settings of the AMG sports suspension based on Active Body Control. Gears can also be shifted manually at any time by means of the silver-colored aluminum shift paddles on the AMG ergonomic sports steering wheel.

AMG Sport Suspension Based on Active Body Control

The AMG sports suspension based on Active Body Control reduces almost all of the body movements that occur when moving off, cornering and braking. The CL65 AMG negotiates bends of every type with a greatly reduced roll angle while body roll during fast avoiding maneuvers is effectively suppressed. AMG High-Performance Brakes with Innovative Twin Sliding Calipers

The polished 20-inch AMG twin-spoke forged wheels painted in titanium grey also contribute to the superb roadholding of the CL65 AMG. At the front, the 8.5-inch-wide wheels are fitted with 255/35 ZR 20 tires, while 275/35 ZR 20 tires equip the 9.5-inch-wide wheels at the rear. With their filigree spokes, they offer tantalizing views of a brake system, the like of which is not to be found in any other manufacturer's products. The system in question is the AMG high-performance brake system which sets new standards for stopping power, sensitivity and resistance to fading. In keeping with the innovative approach typical of AMG, the front brakes of the CL65 AMG are equipped with twin sliding calipers. A world first, this new technology combines the advantages of a floating-caliper brake - lower heat transfer to the brake fluid and significantly enhanced comfort as a result of the way the brake pads are located - with the performance of a large fixed-caliper brake.

At the rear, braking is handled by a large frame-type sliding caliper. Composite blind-drilled brake discs at the front and rear with respective diameters of 390 and 365 millimeters ensure the shortest stopping distances, excellent resistance to fading and outstanding sensitivity. Under emergency braking from 100 km/h at the permissible gross vehicle weight, the CL65 AMG comes to a standstill in 35.6 meters; this represents a maximum deceleration of 11.1 m/s2. Based on the ADAPTIVE BRAKE system, the electronically controlled dual-circuit hydraulic brake system supports numerous driver assistance functions - such as the PRE‑SAFEâ Brake system, Brake Assist PLUS and DISTRONIC PLUS - for even greater safety and comfort.

AMG Body Styling: Powerful and Elegant Design

The advanced technology of the CL65 AMG is complemented perfectly by the vehicle's powerful, elegant and dynamic design idiom. The AMG body styling and the self-assured lines of the large Mercedes coupe make a superbly cohesive formal statement. Large air intakes, side air outlets and round fog lamps with chrome surrounds dominate the front, as do the special AMG radiator grille with two horizontal chrome louvers and the darkened bi-xenon headlamps. Distinctive side skirts and "V12 BITURBO" lettering enhance the sides while the two twin chromed V12-design tailpipes and the muscular rear apron with its black diffuser insert make the rear of the vehicle particularly eye-catching.

Interior: Dynamic Style and the Finest Materials

Inside, too, the V12 top model impresses with its dynamic style and its use of the finest materials: the AMG sports seats have a special upholstery pattern as well as both multicontour and massage functionality; the EXCLUSIVE PASSION Nappa leather upholstery has a new diamond pattern. All four seats feature metal AMG badges. The AMG ergonomic sports steering wheel has a specially sculpted rim and silver-colored AMG aluminum gearshift paddles. Integrated in the AMG instrument cluster (which is calibrated up to 360 km/h and features "V12 BITURBO" lettering), the AMG main menu shows the currently selected gear and recommends when to shift up to the next gear. It also allows the driver to choose between viewing the engine oil temperature or the battery voltage as well as the "RACETIMER". Using the latter, the driver can measure lap times - when driving on a private race circuit, for example. A particularly notable highlight of the interior is the IWC-design analogue clock. Fine poplar wood trim elements as well as AMG door sills and the AMG sports pedals in brushed stainless steel complete the picture.

If you believe that you’ll do away with all the “extra-equipment” hustles if you buy a top spec version like Mercedes-Benz’s E63 AMG better think again. PRESS RELEASE: A special AMG performance package will shortly be available ex factory for the sporty 378 kW/514 hp E 63 AMG Saloon. It comprises various technical components which significantly enhance the handling dynamics, the motorsport potential and the individuality of this model. The performance package was developed at the AMG PERFORMANCE STUDIO in Affalterbach and the vehicles are built at the DaimlerChrysler production plant in Sindelfingen.

The performance package will be available for the E 63 AMG Saloon from March 2007. The performance package at a glance:
