BF Performance Turns the Gallardo into a GT600

BF-Performance of Zug, Swizerland, has just released a louder take on what a Lamborghini Gallardo should be. According to them, "the Swiss have higher demands...The Gallardo is too innocent and neither dynamic nor individual enough."

Uhh...right. Looks like they're serious though, because their take on the latest Gallardo results in the GT600; it's a model that slots smack dab in the middle into their Lambo lineup, right between the Gallardo-based GT540 and Murcielago-underpinned GT660.

BF's GT600 loses 43 kilos (that's 95 pounds) and picks up wing (not scissor) doors, a carbon aero-kit, and a power boost. The aero parts consist of a front splitter, skirts, rear diffuser, and a wing, while the power boost to 600 ponies is mysteriously unexplained.

Regardless, BF says their GT600 beat an SV Murcielago around the Sachsenring by 0.6 seconds. Their Gallardos can also be converted to two-wheel drive, creating a Super Balboni of sorts.

If track days are on the customer's mind, BF also provides race-day outfitting for the car. "Apart from the sports bucket seats, BF-performance also offers five-point belts, a roll-over cage and a carbon-ceramic braking system with which the GT600 meets the highest racing standards."

The car is clearly fast, and while it seems that it's kind of like an aftermarket version of the Superleggera, there's one phrase in the press release that may go slightly over the top:

"The Swiss specialist is always one step ahead of the Italian manufacturer." Bold words, fellas...

Video and 'Live' Shots of the New Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera from the Geneva Show

So, how do you make an already scorching hot supercar like the recently facilitated Lamborghini Gallardo even more spicier? Lamborghini's answer to that question is make it lighter and more powerful.

Easier said than done when you're talking about a car like the Gallardo that has already been pushed to the limits, but Lambo's engineers found a way to cut 154 pounds (70kg) bringing the weight down to 2,954 lbs (1,340kg) and add another 10 ponies to the V10 engine bumping output to 570HP.

The end result is the stunning Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera that was officially revealed at the Geneva Show this week. Hit the jump for the video and photos or click here to read our more detailed post on the new Superleggera.

Geneva Show: Lamborghini's Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera (with no puns!)

This is how you condense press releases: Lamborghini's Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera-christened Gallardo weighs less and has more power. Now for the details: it's dropped 154 pounds (70kg), which brings it down to 2,954 lbs (1,340kg) dry, and it also picked up 10-horsepower along the way thanks to some computer finagling. Not only is it faster, the Superleggera is said to be ~20% cleaner and more efficient as well.

The new Superleggera's LP engine (it stands for "longitudinale posteriore", meaning the engine is longitudinally placed behind the passenger compartment) drops 570 horsepower and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque through an e-gear transmission (6-speed optional) and Lamborghini's all-wheel-drive system.

All that provides a 100km/h (62mph) clip at 3.4 seconds on its way to 325 km/h (202 mph). Thanks to direct injection, fuel mileage comes in at a Lamborghini-claimed 13.5L/100km (~17 mpg US).

The restyled front end is there to provide more air to vital components while increasing downforce, much like the rear diffuser and spoilers (that's right, if the small one just doesn't cut it, there's an optional bigger one available).

Helping bring that weight down are a polycarbonate rear windshield, engine cover, windows, and carbon fiber just about everywhere. It even has titanium wheel bolts.

Much like crosstown rival Ferrari, Lamborghini has made use of driver input derived from its Super Trofeo race series in order to fine-tune the Superleggera's race-brediness. 380 mm carbon ceramic 6-piston brakes are optional, but most drivers will probably be fine with the standard 365 mm vented discs (front ; rears measure 356 mm), and the specially developed Pirellis are "closely related to pure race rubber".

Not only that, but hardcore racers who like to thrash Italian exotics can opt for 4-point harnesses, a fire extinguisher, and a roll cage.

Aww, you think it's too racy for you? Don't worry, hombre, it still has air conditioning, power windows, and a multimedia nav-system with rearview camera. Keep the e-gear and you can even let your girlfriend drive it (but I sure as hell wouldn't).

Geneva Preview: Lamborghini's New Gallardo LP570-4 Supperleggera

Set to debut in Geneva (really really soon) is the Lamborghini Murcielago SV's little brother. Called the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, it's set to carry some of its older sibling's feature characteristics (loud colors, swoopy graphics, big wing, and that black lower-body trim) while developing 570 horsepower.

Unofficial numbers are claiming a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.4 blips and a top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph). For comparison's sake, the former Superleggera cranked out 530 horsepower, hit 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, and topped out at 317 km/h (197 mph).

Hit the break for the leaked photos and don't forget to check back soon for an updated gallery and official info.
